The purpose of the series is to bring together critical scholars to talk about issues of race/ethnicity and exclusion in education within the Borderlands. We understand the Border both physically and symbolically. A point of entry to this series is the idea that in the Borderlands race/ethnicity and exclusion in education has historically (and in the present) worked at the intersection with language. While this is a broad theme and our guest speakers have approached it from very different angles (Bilingual Education, Science Education, Videogames, etc.), we maintain the theme of race/ethnicity, equity, and education across all the talks.
