While social-emotional learning may feel like a familiar buzzword these days, it's being constantly mentioned for good reason. Researchers are finding that if students do not have solid social-emotional skills, other skills that we teach them will cease to matter much. Employers and those in higher education are consistently reporting that in a digital age, applicants are struggling to master the soft skills that are still so valuable. Working as part of a team, active listening, communicating clearly and coping with emotions are just a few of the things we are working towards through our core curriculum, in small groups, individually and in combination with Mrs. Drummond's implementation of Kagan Cooperative Learning Strategies in the classroom. Below are some great social emotional resources that can easily be practiced at home.
