BeeBRT, the lightest, intelligent flashlight with longest lasting operation.
Years ago I decided to develop a flashlight that overcame the issues of general flashlights on the market. I got tired of lugging a large, heavy flashlight around that required batteries to change. I got tired of flashlights getting brighter and brighter, when I wanted one that would be bright enough to see, yet dim enough to not blind fellow backpackers. I got tired of trying to find my flashlight when it dropped on the ground among the leaves and other foliage. I got tired of flashlights rolling off objects that I place the light upon. And, I got tired of having to worry about batteries. Essentially, the full bullet list of problems is
Requires batteries, or frequent recharging.
Do not last more than 20 to 40 hours at a time.
Rechargeable flashlights over-discharge batteries causing potential battery damage and short life.
Weigh too much
Are typically too bright.
Hard to find if dropped in brush or at night.
Tend to roll off where I place it
Batteries die if accidentally left turned on.
Difficult to use hands-free.
In the end, BeeBRT was the solution. I developed my prototype version and have been using it well over five years. I now have a flashlight that hits the following key points.
Recessed button to avoid accidental turn-on.
No battery swapping as it is rechargeable using any micro-USB cable.
At low intensity, the flashlight can last over 100 hours.
Has low-battery detection and gives user warning that battery needs to be recharged before potential battery damage.
Weights around 0.9 ounces
Has very low intensity for near distance usage. It is bright enough to illuminate a small room, but not bright enough to give night blindness when looked at.
Is brightly colored with a lanyard that can be easily seen if dropped in the brush.
The included lanyard allows for wearing around the neck easily or attaching to any object.
Can be found at night since it has glow-in-the-dark strips.
Is square in shaped so that it cannot roll off any surface.
Turns itself off if accidentally turned on.
Has a tab on the back that can be comfortably held between the teeth.
Has a programmable turn-off timer.
One-button operation.
Small in size: 2.5” x .75” x 1.0”.
Water resistant.
Since the original orange version, I opted to go yellow. It is brighter and more aligns with the name, Bee-Bright.
Not everyone wants a white light. So, we have developed prototypes of other colors to work with hunters and those that like to operate in the dark. There is a deep-red version that is great for hunters and night-sky watchers. Another version in an infra-red category was made for those that like to walk in the dark with night vision goggles.
Other colors can be available such as soft-white, blue, green, and several other colors.
