Being inspired by TLI and my cohorts, this year I challenged myself with this project and in general. Previously I have shared readings and research with colleagues. This year I presented at two conferences on various topics. In the project, I became a contact person between administration and teachers to develop learning experiences for our staff. In the beginning of TLI, I did not consider the way I would grow in this competency. I appreciate the challenge I had in finding the right need to pursue. Reflect Artifact 1 is the beginning of my journey into this competency and realizing my beginning level was developing with a goal of making it to performing.
This whole project challenged me to facilitate asynchronous planning. We had to communicate through technology to get our work done. We used it to develop our direction of our planned professional development as well as making the presentations. Reflect Artifact 1 is the beginning of my journey into this competency and realizing I was emerging since I only really collaborated using email and would make a presentation by myself and then have others present it. In this project, I took a step back and facilitated the online collaboration and let others add to the presentation themselves.

Throughout TLI, I had the opportunity to reflect on many of my own biases. I recognized that I started as "emerging" for this competency. TLI helped me remember that each person thinks differently and has different experiences or privileges as explored in Reflect Artifacts 3 through 6. Since remembering this, it made me want to expand professional development teacher leaders since maybe other teachers can relate to a different person more easily than me. I also think TLI has been important because it made me think about what daily life is like for other people who have different demographics than me. During our last meet up, I reflected on the most important growth: I do not always know what is best for everyone and that others may have more valid and helpful ideas based on their own identity.

TLI made me consider what the next step was for this competency. Without TLI, I do not know if I would have formed these teams this year. It forced me jump from the developing stage of being on the professional development team into the performing role of leading professional development teams. In Reflect Artifact 7 is a self-assessment towards the beginning of TLI that discusses this competency. I believe that I was successful since I was able to support my colleagues through their teacher leading this year.

Meeting other educators from across the state and learning from each other was very valuable to me. They have given me ideas I would not have thought of by myself. The other valuable thing was a direction to take my role as Building Learning Facilitator. TLI gave me a goal to grow in that role and invite my colleagues to challenge themselves as well.
I will continue helping my fellow math teachers at West High School and look into future roles of helping math teachers across the state. I will also continue organizing professional development opportunities for my whole school. Since I am into learning about instruction and best practices, I plan on pursuing National Board Certification starting next year. I want to pursue that challenge because I want to grow my reflective teaching practice and critically think about my current practices.
