The Committee has responsibility to plot holders to ensure that plots neighbouring theirs are not weed infested, and to London Borough of Bromley for ensuring that all the plots are being cultivated to an acceptable standard. They must cancel the tenancy of any plot holder who does not keep his or her plot to a reasonable standard of cultivation.
In order to do this Plot Inspections are carried out at regular intervals from March to September. A plot holder and a Committee member look at all plots and record their observations.
Warning Letters are sent to any plot holders whose plot has become weed infested or which is not being actively cultivated. Any plotholders receiving a warning letter will have a follow-up check a month later to see that improvement has been made. If you receive a warning letter you will also be asked to meet a committee member on site to agree a plan for how you will get your plot under control. If no improvement is observed after 3 inspections (or you fail to meet with a committee member) then the plot will be taken back and rented out to the next person on the Waiting List. You can download a useful guide on how we inspect plots and what we are looking for.
We really don't want to take plots away from people and will do it only as a last resort, so please take them time to find out what standards are expected. Time and again we find out too late that someone is unwell, if you are having issues keeping your plot up to standards, please speak to the secretary or chairperson in confidence.
We publish our Constitution and Rules, and our Terms and Conditions so that everyone knows what is expected of them. There is also a copy of our tenancy agreement.
