"Bebot" is the eighth and final single from the Black Eyed Peas album Monkey Business, released in 2006. The song is entirely in Tagalog, with the term "bebot" from Filipino slang for "pretty woman", "hot chick", "hottie", or "baby/babe".[1] In the song, apl.de.ap raps about his life as a Filipino immigrant, and also all the woman he meets at parties.

actually, when he says 'pare' i dont think he's refering to a priest pare.. but more like a mate/friend. that sort of thing. and i believe the term 'bebot' is just a filipino slang word for a girl/female. but yeh, i like this song!

I meant to post the translation after I submitted the lyrics, but forgot till now. I think you did a good job of translating the song, a lot smoother than I would have. But yeah, marchingsoldier is right with those two points (pare = male friend and bebot = girlfriend)

I had no clue about what the song meant till I cam onto here but I really like the musical bit played during the 'Fillipino' bit, it sounds so cool, I'd love to be able to play it even though it's just a short bit.

In the most offbeat selection in "Monkey Business," Apl.de.ap of Black Eyed Peas raps on a song called "Bebot" about the joys of eating with one's fingers, drinking with friends and a popular Filipino delicacy called balut.

Pendong Aban, one of Asin's members, said the group felt honored by Apl's acknowledgement of Asin's influence on his music. "We seldom hear how our songs impact our li'teners' lives," he said in an e-mail.

"Balita" is a political song that talked about the repression and violence many Filipinos endured during the regime of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos. The lyrics speak of a "land stained with blood" where "hearts are crying out."

"That's what made me write that song," Apl said of his loss. "He was growing up and I was growing up, and I had to do what I had to do to make it in this world. I just wish he could have waited a little longer."

Eric Caruncho, a music critic based in Manila, said "The Apl Song" was a big hit in the Philippines and gave young Filipinos "someone to root for." Writer Jim Ayson said having a song with Tagalog lyrics in one of the biggest selling albums of the year was "mind boggling."

Her name was Bella when I first got her. I wanted something synonymous to Bella (which means beautiful girl in Italian) and at the time the song Bebot by the Black Eye Peas was pretty popular. I ended up naming her after the song, Bebot! Bebot is the Tagalog (Filipino language) word for babe or hot girl. 17dc91bb1f
