For anglophones learning French:
Please note that our meetings are entirely in French. You don't need to be a fluent speaker; this will improve with participation. However, it is important that you are able to understand what others are saying, so you can feel a part of us and get value from the time spent. A level of B2 is most likely to be a good place to start, however you will be the one to decide.
All Toastmasters club meetings have a grammarian to prevent poor grammar from being picked up by others, but meetings are not intended to teach a language.
All are welcome. Come check us out, and see for yourself if you will be able to benefit from joining. We hope to see you soon!
For those looking to develop their French:
There are MANY sources on-line that can supplement French language classes provided by the government. No attempt has been made to survey them. The following have been useful to one member of Les beaux parleurs. These have a free option but those will only take you so far.
Duolingo (useful for learning to spell correctly right from the beginning, get noun genders, etc.)
Français Authentique (aimed at a level of B1 minimum; very good for developing oral comprehension)
Clozemaster (useful for developing comprehension of a wide variety of speakers, accents. Can adjust the speed of delivery, etc.)
