Animal testing is the process in which humans use animals to test out new medications or products such as cosmetics and cleaners. They use them to experiment on effectiveness and the effects on the consumers. All testing is called to be moderate. Not only does this harm the animal overall it affects physical and cognitive suffering. Almost all animals are killed after the experiment is over. Although some could be reused.
Forced chemical exposure (e.x. force-feeding, inhalation, injections in skin, abdomen, and muscles.)
Exposure to harmful chemicals, drugs, and diseases that cause suffering or even death.
Short to long periods of physical restraint.
Deprivation of food and water.
Surgeries.
Enduring injuries to study healing.
Outward experiments to cause torment (e.x. electric shock.)
Creating animal models as in the use of animals to study human mental and physical problems.
Animals like mice, fish, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, farm animals, birds, cats, dogs, and mini pigs are all most commonly used by testing sites around the globe. In some countries, monkeys and chimpanzees are also used. More than 115 million animals around the world are used to be tested. Although many testing sites do not give the correct number of animals used. So, the estimate is underestimated. In conclusion, the animals used are much higher than the original measurement.
These procedures are inhumane. Essentially animal testing is animal abuse. Animals take on large amounts of pain. Animal testing has proven that the tests do not give an accurate or good reading. Through this, scientists cannot grasp a full understanding of the products tested. So why do they continue to do this? Many are even questioning the importance of this. Scientists are arriving at the idea that animal testing is hardly effective, and they are appearing to be inaccurate. How can we sit back and just let this continue? This is very wrong, there are other ways we can test products out. Imagine that humans were used for this testing. Would you think that is right? Most people would answer no. So, why let it happen to animals? The things done to these creatures are unbelievable. We need to do something to stop this.
Instead of using animals as a testing project, researchers believe that using virtual testing on human cells would be much more efficient. Scientists would use technology to help study results and reactions to the product testing. This option would not hurt anyone, and it would be a much safer way. Because of the tools we have today, scientists would be able to take a deeper dive into the way the body reacts. So, animal testing is very irrelevant to be able to receive the information you need. In this way of testing many problems would be resolved. To make a change for better research trusted organizations that are in opposition to animal testing and help or donate to the organization.
