Overview

The aim of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Beaumont Hospital, Dearborn and Beaumont Hospital, Trenton is to provide exceptional academic and clinical training to develop emergency medicine physicians to serve our communities.

This is the Beaumont Dearborn and Trenton Emergency Medicine Residency. We are a 4 year/3 year (from intern class of 2020 on is 3 years!) ACGME Accredited Emergency Medicine residency program. Our residents train primarily in one of our two emergency departments: Beaumont Hospital - Trenton and Beaumont Hospital - Dearborn, both with ACS Level II Trauma designation.  Beaumont Hospital - Trenton is our community emergency department, this department is staffed by 3 attending physicians and 2 resident physicians during the day and 1 attending and 1 resident overnight. Beaumont Hospital Dearborn is our tertiary care hospital, our residents staff the 2 high acuity pods with 2 attending physicians.

Our resident physicians always work 1:1 with their attending physicians, allowing for close communication with your attending physician throughout the day. Our resident physicians respond to all priority 1 medical resuscitations, stroke codes, and trauma activations. Our residents run all codes and priority resuscitations, whether you're an intern or a senior. ED Residents are given priority on all procedures in the emergency department, with all residents signed off on procedures well before graduating.

Beaumont Hospital - Trenton and Beaumont Hospital - Dearborn are associated with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine respectively. There are always highly motivated medical students rotating through our emergency department, allowing for teaching on shift.

Our curriculum uses Tintinalli's Emergency Medicine: A Comprehensive Study Guide for our didactics. Our didactic sessions include resident lectures, attending lectures, and simulation labs.
