Bean Island is home to a large hiking trail that loops around the island's perimeter, coupled with a few secondary trails that branch off of the main one.Â
On the island, you may notice a few old campfires from people who camped illegally. If you notice any broken glass, please do the island a favor and carefully throw it away in one of the trash bins.
On the eastern coast, there is a small beach at the bottom of a steep decline from the hiking trail. There was a ropeswing attatched to a tree there, but the tree fell in late 2024 and that ropeswing is no longer usable.
There is another ropeswing, however. Further to the south on the trail, you will find a long, blue ropeswing. If you plan to use this one, please be safe and mindful, as improper use can result in serious injury. When you let go of the swing, please make sure your momentum is directed outward towards the pond, and not backwards towards the island. Make sure you let go once you are a sufficient distance away from the coast, as the water is very shallow in the first few feet off the island.
Below is a trail map of the island (printable PDF is below image). It is missing the minor branching trails (we plan to add these later), but you'll be able to see them once you're on the island.
Footwear is necessary when trekking the island due to the abundance of broken glass.
