Healing Timeline
Your tattoo heals in stages, and each one is completely normal. Here’s what to expect from the moment you leave our studio until your tattoo is fully settled and showing its true colours.
Your tattoo is brand new, and your skin is working hard to protect itself.
Redness, warmth, and tenderness are normal
Light swelling or oozing (plasma + excess ink) may appear
Wash gently 2–3 times a day with fragrance‑free soap
Pat dry — never rub
This stage is all about keeping it clean and protected.
Your tattoo begins to seal itself.
Thin, light scabs form over the design
The tattoo may look slightly dull or cloudy
Apply a thin layer of aftercare cream
Do not pick or scratch
Scabs are part of the process — let them fall off naturally.
This is the “snake skin” stage.
Skin peels like a sunburn
Colours may look patchy or uneven
Itching increases as the skin regenerates
Tap the area gently if it itches — don’t scratch
This stage can look messy, but it’s completely normal.
Your skin is almost healed.
Texture smooths out
Colour begins to brighten
The tattoo looks more even and defined
Continue moisturising daily
Your tattoo is now safe from irritation, but still needs care.
Your tattoo has completed its healing cycle.
Skin is fully regenerated
True colours and details are visible
You can resume sun exposure — with SPF
The tattoo is stable and settled
This is the stage where your tattoo looks its absolute best.
Avoid sun exposure during early stages
No swimming or soaking until fully healed
Use SPF 30+ once healed to protect your artwork
