Events are by Divisions. Division A, 4th-6th grades; Division B, 7th-8th grades; Division C, 9th-12th grades.
Beacon Park SciOly program is a year-long academic program supported by PTA.
At Beacon Park Science Olympiad, medals and trophies are wonderful bonuses, but they are not our main measure of success.
We believe success is defined by the experiences and growth our students gain along the way. We look at three simple success metrics (KPIs):
1. Curiosity & Learning
Did the student learn something new that they are excited to share with their family, classmates, or teachers? Maybe they even go home and challenge their family with fun science questions!
2. Friendship & Teamwork
Did the student make a new friend or get to know someone they didn’t know before, perhaps even from a different grade level?
3. Courage & Commitment
Did the student show up, participate in the tournament, and sit through the events to compete alongside students from other schools?
If the answer to these questions is yes, then in our book they are already winners.
In Division A program in 2025-2026, we were especially proud that about half of our participants were 4th graders, making them among the youngest competitors in Division A tournaments, where many schools field primarily 5th and 6th graders.
For us, Science Olympiad is about curiosity, courage, collaboration, and the joy of discovering science together. This trophy belongs to all of you!
Our Science Olympiad website, created and managed by a dedicated parent volunteer, serves as an internal communication hub for our program chairs and participating families. Families are encouraged to check the website weekly for major announcements, important updates, and resources throughout the season.
You can access helpful resources and stay up to date on major announcements and division-specific information. We also invite you to explore the website to get to know the program leaders/parent volunteers who are dedicated to growing this STEM educational program for the Beacon Park community, and our high school lead coaches, who generously volunteer their time to recruit and lead fellow high school students as mentors. Together, they develop curriculum and learning materials across different Science Olympiad subjects to help prepare our students throughout the season.
