Meet Your Science Olympiad Co-Chairs
We are a team of parent volunteers united by a simple, powerful mission: to empower our students to see the world through the lens of curiosity. As co-chairs, we are passionate about supporting our kids as they dive into the wonders of science, helping them transition from passive learners to active problem-solvers who create real-world solutions.
Our leadership team brings a mix of perspectives that keeps our program well-rounded. Whether we are "returning pros" or "returning to our roots," we are all here for the same reason: to cheer on our Beacon Park Bengals as they explore, experiment, and excel. We can’t wait to see what these young scientists achieve this year!
Prashant Setty- Division A Chair A Finance and Strategy professional, Prashant keeps the gears of the program turning. He manages our registration logistics, payment processing, and serves as our vital liaison with the PTA. He is supported by his 4th grader and 2nd grader, who keep him inspired.
Sarah Chung- Division B Co-Chair A board-certified orthodontist with a background in Biological Sciences and a passion for encouraging students to explore STEM. As a parent of an 8th grader and 6th grader, she enjoys helping students develop curiosity, problem-solving skills, confidence, and a love of learning. She is excited to serve as Co-Chair for Beacon Park’s Science Olympiad Division B team and looks forward to building a supportive and engaging community where students can learn, collaborate, and discover their strengths.
Hannah Pan- Division B Co-Chair A vocal teacher and passionate educator, Hannah jumped right into the Beacon Park community and immediately stepped up to lead our Division B program alongside Sarah. She brings energy, enthusiasm, and a love of learning to the team, helping our students find their voice both in and out of the classroom.
While our co-chairs provide the organizational backbone, the "heart and soul" of our educational program comes from an incredible group of high school mentors. We are especially honored to introduce our Lead Coaches, a pair of dedicated twins from Northwood High School- Allison Idanawang and Madison Idanawang.
Though they are not affiliated with Beacon Park, the Idanawang family reached out to our community with incredible generosity. Their Science Olympiad pedigree is top-tier:
They are alumni of Sierra Vista Middle School, where they competed in SciOly at the National level
They now bring that elite experience to our Bengals, coaching a wide range of events including Metriculous Guessers, DaVinci Decoder, Sherlock Foams, and Tower Power.
Beyond their own coaching, they have recruited a team of fellow high-achieving high school students to serve as mentors. This "near-peer" mentoring model is invaluable; our elementary students get to learn from role models who were in their exact shoes just a few years ago.
We are deeply grateful for their commitment to fostering the next generation of scientists and engineers here at Beacon Park!
