Councillor Brad Bradford
Ward 19 -- Beaches-East York
2118 Danforth Ave East
Toronto, ON M4C 1J9
Dear Councillor Bradford:
As a resident of the Toronto Beach community, I take exception to your support of Council's decision to remove overnight permit parking on the streets of Pine Crescent, Glen Ames, Long Crescent, Glen Oak Drive, Balsam Road, Pine Glen Road, and Glen Stewart Crescent. This change in 2021 has resulted in both residents and guests unable to access legal overnight parking in the Beach community. It is extremely unfair that you supported limited, targeted consultations with residents only on the affected streets, and did not seek input from other surrounding residents who would be affected by this decision.
Your support of this decision is both disappointing and concerning given the clear disregard for the impact that removing 320 parking spaces has had in your ward. We call on you to demonstrate your commitment to transparency by explaining why these streets were selected for overnight parking permit removal, and who asked you to support this change. As a local Beach resident, I want to know why this change was made, and whether you are prepared to now listen to the concerns from all residents in the area who were affected by this change made in near secrecy.
We are asking you to restore overnight permit parking to these streets immediately so that everyone in the Beach community has access to adequate legal overnight parking.
Sincerely,
<Your name>

Concerned Beach Residents Want To Know...
Who asked you to support removing overnight permit parking only on 7 streets in our ward?
Why didn't you consult ALL residents in the affected areas rather than ONLY those residents on the affect streets who wanted the change?
Did you ask what the impact was of this decision before voting in favour of it?
Did you understand why city staff did not recommend removing overnight parking before voting for it anyway?
Are you prepared to listen to all residents in the affect areas now, and reverse the decision if the MAJORITY of residents in the area support restoring overnight parking on those 7 streets
