The Bald Eagle Area School District (BEASD) is proud to lead initiatives that make a meaningful impact on our students and their families. Programs like the Eagles’ Nest provide essential toiletries to those in need, while the Prom Dress Closet ensures that no student misses out on their special event due to financial constraints. The Angel Tree Program brings joy by offering gifts to students and their families facing challenges during the holidays.
These programs reflect BEA’s commitment to creating a supportive and caring community. We invite everyone to get involved—whether by donating, volunteering, or spreading the word—because together, we can continue making a difference.
The Eagles' Nest is a resource closet at Bald Eagle Area Middle/High School, offering toiletries and school supplies to students in need. It was inspired by 2023 BEA graduate Trinity Hernandez, who developed the idea while participating in PBIS. With support from Mr. Tobias, two lockers were removed, and donations were solicited through social media to bring the concept to life.
Although the PBIS advisor role changed, the Eagles' Nest remains under the guidance of its original organizer (Andrea Simpson), who is passionate about supporting students. The BEA community has been instrumental in its success, contributing through an Amazon wishlist and direct donations. Additionally, Mr. Tobias designates two jeans days annually to fund any unmet needs.
Essential items like deodorant and tampons are in constant demand. Tampons and pads are also stocked in all school bathrooms, replenished regularly by custodial staff. Other provided items include shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash, combs, brushes, stain remover wipes, cough drops, hair ties, laundry detergent, sunscreen, dry shampoo, chapstick, socks, and various school supplies.
The Eagles' Nest also extends its reach by donating sanitary pads to all elementary schools in the district, ensuring support for younger students.

Mrs. Diane Lucas oversees the Prom Closet, which has been running since 2012-13 thanks to inspiration from her oldest son’s class. It provides free prom, graduation, and semi-formal attire to students in the district and beyond. They have dresses, suits, ties, and even some shoes. Donations are collected year-round, but larger-sized dresses (not bridesmaid dresses) are always in high demand. Every year, it’s heartwarming to see students find something special and feel confident for their big night.
The Prom Closet ensures that no student misses out on their special event due to financial constraints. Many volunteers, teachers and staff work tirelessly to sort and organize donations to make the experience enjoyable for all who visit. In addition to dresses and suits, Mrs. Bagley has brought in accessories such as jewelry and makeup to help students complete their look. A huge thanks to Andrea Simpson and Kristin Bennett who've helped tremendously; and to Jack Tobias, Brenda Loesch, and Nobellee Levelle who've helped hang the dresses and organize the closets.
The Junior Class, which organizes prom, plays a vital role in fundraising efforts to lower the cost of attendance for all students. Student Government also contributes by managing the Prom Closet, along with other community initiatives such as the pop tab drive, reading programs for elementary students, and Homecoming and Miss BEA events.
If any parents would like to help with the Prom Closet, please contact Diane. Your support through donations or volunteering is always appreciated!
Students may shop for a dress for any occasion including any dance and Homecoming. Donations are accepted year round.

Each school year, the National Honor Society (NHS) organizes the Holiday Family Project to support BEA families who may need extra help during the holiday season. NHS students partner with local businesses to collect donations and lead school-wide fundraising efforts that involve the entire student body. These initiatives vary each year—for example, last year students sold paper ornaments for Christmas trees displayed throughout the school.
NHS co-advisors, Jacy Clark and Jackie Yeaney, receive a carefully considered list of families based on staff and colleague recommendations, then connect with each family to identify specific gift needs. Students use the donated funds to shop for gifts, carefully wrap them, and organize the packages for anonymous distribution (e.g., Family 1, Person A).
The number of families supported each year depends on the total amount of donations collected—every contribution directly increases the number of BEA families the NHS can assist.
This project provides students with a meaningful, hands-on opportunity to give back and make a heartfelt difference in the lives of others during the holidays.
