Helps to Empower Communities Sustainably Access to Safe Water

Water is one of the most important resources for human beings. Water has the ability to effect all levels of society including the individual, the household, and the community as a whole. And clean water not only improves the quality of life but also the health and well being of each individual within the community.

It is by educating and water testing and WASH practices the community are well informed and have the inspiration to improve water quality situation in rural and small towns.

Nearly 2.2 Billion around the world do not have safely managed* drinking water services.

Water has a profound impact on human development.

HEALTH

This contributes to the spread of waterborne diseases such as typhoid fever, worms, cholera, dysentery, and diarrhea which are preventable and treatable. Waterborne sicknesses are the leading cause of disease and death globally.

EDUCATION

Available clean water provides a greater potential for women and children to attend school and earn an education, increasing their prosperity, power and influence in their communities, literacy, hygiene, security, and equality.

WOMEN

Indian women are dis-proportionally burdened by the sourcing and gathering of water. In rural villages, women are seen as the collectors and guardians of water. Because of this traditional gender role, women spend around 60% of each day collecting water or gathering firewood to burn to clean the water.

PRODUCTIVITY

Poverty is directly related to accessible, clean drinking water. In developing countries, the poor typically pay 5x to 10x more per unit than people with piped water. The consequences impact education, opportunities for employment, health, agriculture, industrial development, and the overall productive potential of a community.

Creates Employment & Builds Skills for women Self Help Groups and Youth.

We chose BD-JALKALP Biosand water filters because they are ideally suited to purify water in the most remote and poor areas that have unsafe water. These filters require little to no maintenance, and are installed with the local available resources sand, gravel, and clay. They don’t need any electricity, chemicals, or replacement filter cartridges, and last up to 30 years. They are ideally suited for warm temperate climates and are installed very easily after testing water quality at the customer door step – creating employment and skill in the areas that need it most.

MEET OUR CUSTOMERS

BDN services is a very young social start-up started its operation in January 2022 from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. Approximately, 1000 people were made aware and sensitized for using clean and safe drinking water. Improving the health of the rural community is an important part of the Company's overall strategy.

This quarter April to June 2022, 475 families from Ballia and Hardoi districts were benefited through water extension services.

Till date total thirty eight households benefitted from BD Jalkalp Biosand filter and all are having access to safe drinking water regularly for drinking and cooking.
