We take pride in all areas of our park, nature, history, recreation, and everything in between. And we hope that today’s hike has inspired in you a pride in parks as well. The Delaware State Parks belong to our visitors, you!
Brandywine Creek State Park has over a 1000 acres, 13 miles of trails, and 4 nature preserves! We have programs year around and fun seasonal events.
If you have a moment, please let us know what you thought of this hike by following the link below to the DE State Parks Feedback Form:

The Brandywine Trail (solid red trail line) from Thompsons bridge to Rockland bridge. This trail is 2.9 miles long, and fairly smooth. It’s well shaded and has a beautiful overlook of the river. This trail is also open to bikers and horse back riders.
The Meadows Trail (orange dotted with white trail line). This is a small portion of the larger cross country course that loops through the meadows by the nature center. This park of the trail is very flat and wide. It’s excellent for walking dogs.
If they are in strollers the beginner hikes are both good. But if they want to walk with you and have a little adventure:
Creekside Trail (solid dark blue trail line). This trail is 2.6 miles right along the creek’s eastern bank. It’s not too hilly but it does have a few small stream crossings. This trail is well shaded. Bikers and horseback riders are also allowed on this trail.
Tulip Tree Trail (yellow dotted with red trail line). This trail loops through the Tulip Tree Nature Preserve. There are some parts that are rocky along this trail, toward the beginning and end. This trail is well shaded.
Hidden Pond Trail (red dotted with white trail line). This trail in and of itself is 1.4 miles around, but to get there you’ll want to take the Tulip Tree Trail which connects onto it. The hidden pond trail is rocky and rough in some places, but offers excellent views of the creek. The hidden pond itself is also found on this route, but sometimes it can be hard to spot.
Rocky Run Trail (dark blue dotted with yellow trail line). Often regarded as the hardest trail in the park, this loop is 1.8 miles. The trail is very rocky and steep, both uphill and down. It has a larger stream crossing.
The park hosts interpretive programs nearly every week! Please consider joining us for one of our hikes, walks, or talks. We cover a wide variety of topics, so keep an eye out for something that might interest you.
To see our programs go to https://destateparks.com/BrandywineCreek, we update our program offerings seasonally.
