Winter has challenged our team this year with record snow fall and freezing tempatures, but all of this makes us just that much more excited for spring! Be on the look out for cool new park programs such as our Peoples of our Past Lecture series, Amphibians of BCSP, Earth Day Habitat Hike, and a Wildlife Photography Program!
Our Bluebird Monitoring Program will start back up in late March, join us March 7th for our intrest hike program or email us at the Nature Center to find out how you can be involved this summer!
Programs are filling up for the season so pre-registration is required for all paid and highly recommended for some free programs.

Come out to Brandywine Creek State Park Saturday, March 21st for a day of exploring and new skills! Whether you are new to Orienteering or have a compass that needs some dusting off, there is something for everyone. It is easy! First meet the Naturalists at the Nature Center 11AM to 3PM to get your punch card and map, visit all 9 controls punching your card as you go, turn your completed card back in, receive some DE State Parks Swag!
New to Orienteering? Get lost using a GPS? The Naturalists will be holding a beginners Intro to Orienteering program at 10AM. All are welcomed and encouraged to come learn this very important skill for navigating, especially on public lands. Hope to see you soon!

Did you know that Brandywine Creek State Park is home to 4 distinct habitats? Join the park naturalists on a hike to visit all four of our unique habitats the meadow, forest, creek, and the freshwater marsh all on one hike! On this guided hike, learn about the natural history of the park as we observe each of these spaces ourselves. This trek will be muddy and will have uneven terrain. Using a map and compass is one of the oldest forms of navigating open spaces but even in the digital age this skill comes in handy! Join us for this Introductory Orienteering program where we demystify using a map and compass to help you navigate, going over the basics that you need to know to use a map confidently. Stone Walls Walk Take a walk through history and discover the somewhat mysterious, and very impressive history of the stone walls that line the park landscape. Who built these walls? When? Why? How? Enjoy the beautiful panoramic views of the rolling hills as we unravel the story behind the walls. $6 per person, register online.

Come on a grand adventure across the park! Visit several historic sites and learn the purposes they have served over the years. Discover what makes this a Historic Vernacular Landscape. This hike will be around 2 miles over several steep hills in the meadows. $6 per person, register online. Park entrance fees are in effect.
As spring comes ever closer we are preparing to enter our Eastern Bluebird Monitoring season here at the park! This will be the 38th year of this programs existence here at Brandywine. 38 years of volunteerism that started with a handful of concerned environmentalists taking action to create habitat for wildlife and ultimately bringing back a population of birds thought to be extinct.

Become a trail steward, help us remove invasive plants, and report on trail hazards. This is a great opportunity for folks who already visit the park regularly and want to help take care of the park they love. Fee Season has started!
Our Fee season has started again as of March 1st, stop inside the Park office to pick up your annual Park Pass. Be aware of the changes in park pass rates as they have increased from last year. 2026 Park Passes and Surf Tags will be available December 9th for purchases. for more information go top https://www.destateparks.com/passes-permits-and-fees/.
The Park Office/Nature Center is Still Open 5 Days a Week
As of November 1st the park office will be open 5 days a week Mon - Fri 8a.m. to 4p.m. Naturalists will still have weekly programing on Saturdays. The park Office will be back to being open 7 days a week April 5th.
BCSP has a pavilion and a picnic area available for folks to rent. It's perfect for small gatherings like birthday parties, family reunions, club meetings, or even small weddings! Additional details about the area rentals can be found at https://www.destateparks.com/pavilions-and-picnic-areas/. But know, these areas book up fast in the spring, summer, and fall!
If you do rent one of these areas, please keep in mind your proximity to the nature preserve and other important natural resources, and wildlife in the park. Leave No Trace!
