The terms gama [Running Game] and cara [Holding Game] existing in Manasollasa and Tri-Shashthi-Shalaka-Purusha-Charitra appear also in Amaracandra's poem "Balabharata" (13th century) during the description of a game that is certainly Backgammon.

utthāpitāropitabaddhamuktaiḥ śyāmaiś ca raktaiś ca nrpair ivaitau
śārair vicikrīḍatur ekacittau gamaṃ care ‘py ādadhatāv alakṣam
The pawns are established, raised, taken prisoner (baddha) and afterwards “released” (mukta)
