New parking area and trails at H Cooper Black

Overflow parking area will be next to the out trail to the right of 119 as you come into the park.  The larger pines will remain.  This area will be more like Sugar Loaf mountain camp parking.  The rigs can move around the trees.

Potential new trails for H Cooper Black and there is a lot happening!  The lower area is one of the new trails we are looking at about a 2.1 mile addition to the current map.  Going down NUKEs hill and straight around and will pass by PATSYs Loop, there will also be another 1.2 miles from M to N going to the base of NUKEs hill.

Establishing relationships: Croft State Park

Ranger Rick Henderson, in charge of trails at Croft, is excited to know that BCHSC is here to help!  He said he would definitely call on us in cooler weather to help clear trails and do maintenance.  Mr. Henderson is a horse guy and a joy to talk with!

Volunteer agreements with USFS

Former Lowcountry Director Kathy Swanson negotiated a conference call with BCHSC and various USFS personnel.  The result of this meeting is that the Columbia office is working to get a state-wide volunteer agreement in place so that BCHSC can be official volunteers to help with trail maintenance and improvement on any USFS land in SC.  This is HUGE! Once the paperwork is done, we plan to have an in-person meeting at the Jericho trail head to discuss their specific needs.
