The ‘800 Club’ is a group of locals that care for people living with dementia, who get together every month to support each other and share useful information. We thought it would be helpful to capture that information in one place – so here it is! Everyone is different and each person’s journey will be different, but we hope the information contained here gives you some confidence about what to do, where to go to get support, and what more you could explore in order to meet the needs of your situation. See further below on this page for links to all the information.
If you are experiencing this for the first time or your journey is evolving and changing quickly, it can feel overwhelming at times. We have tried to cluster the information into bite-sized pieces, on topics that our community have found to be important.
However, if you would like to understand a topic in more depth there is a lot of information online from professional organisations about living with dementia and supporting someone with dementia. Many of the UK-based organisations are listed in Resources on the main menu at the top of this page and in Section B here, where you can also find further reading on key topics. We don’t intend to replicate or replace their information; we have just tried to cluster the locally-informed information together in one place.
Just like our community’s experience, this information expands all the time. If you have experiences or information that you think might be useful for others, we’d love to hear about it. Please let us know by emailing bc800club@gmail.com Thank you.
Please note that the information offered here is not a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment. It is provided for informational purposes only, please always seek medical advice from a doctor if you are unsure about anything or wish to try something new.
