Hi there!
My name is Bridget Bershad and I am currently an Adjunct Counselor at Irvine Valley College and Golden West College. Having been a first-generation college student without the slightest idea of how to navigate the higher education system, I know firsthand how challenging it can be for students and their families as they embark on their post secondary journeys. Attempting to decipher the overwhelming amount of information available, and successfully making the transition to college is no easy feat. It is for this reason that I take great pride in making the information more digestible, and empowering students to utilize the many resources available. I would not be where I am today had it not been for the support I received when I was in community college, and it brings me great joy to be this support for the diverse community of students in the California Community College system.
I do what I do because I want students to reach the goals they have set for themselves. I want to build them up when they are down. I want to help them get out of their own way, and to see all the potential that they have. I want to help them challenge themselves and watch them grow as a result. I want to help them see their options and make good choices, whatever that may mean for them. I want them to take the time to self-reflect on who they are and who they want to become, by sharing their stories and hearing my story. I want them to take pride in where they come from and carry that with them to where they’re going.
This site will give you a glimpse of my evolution as an online teacher. I have yet to teach online, but it is my goal to be fully equipped once I do. This marks my capstone for the Advanced Online Teaching Principles certificate I will be earning through @ONE. Hope you enjoy!
