Battle of the Books is an exciting program that encourages a love of books and reading. Teams of fourth and/or fifth graders will read books chosen by their librarians and then compete in battles of answering questions in a quiz show format. Each team will consist of three to five students with at least one adult coach.
Things to Know
Each school will have several copies of each book available to students.
Each team member may check-out one book at a time from their school library and the books will be exchanged upon completion for a new title.
Clarkston Independence District Library and Springfield Township Library also have copies of each battle book available for check-out.
Many of the books are also available on-demand as eBooks and/or audiobooks from Hoopla & Libby/Overdrive - you may access Hoopla & Libby/Overdrive with your library card (Pack Pass). Watch a tutorial video about Hoopla here.
You may purchase books if you like, but it is not necessary to do so.
Different schools may follow a slightly different procedure for exchanging books so please follow the guidelines communicated by your student’s teacher or media tech.
