Sail & Shot tournaments are fought using the Battle of Trafalgar online rules. Winners advance through three rounds till only one team rules the seas! Registered teams are listed at the bottom of the Roster page. Scroll down below the bracket for the tournament specific rules.
Tournament Rules
Captains are expected to be familiar with game rules before the tournament. No time is allocated during the round for lengthy rule briefings! Rules are located here.
The flag under which a teams sails and the ships under their command will vary. Flags are assigned based on the bracket position. Ships will be assigned at the start of each battle.
A sea battle consists of 10 turns. Team with the largest net score (hits delivered minus hits received) at the end of the tenth round advances; losers are eliminated.
All teams fight with the same number of ships each round. If a captain is missing, another captain will assume control of two (or more) ships as necessary. If no captains are present at start time, the team foreits and the opposing team automatically advances.
All members of a team advance, even though an individual captain may have been missing or had their assigned ship sunk during the battle.
Each round will be fought with increasing difficulty:
Quarter Finals: 3 minutes per move, no wind, auto-guns, no fratricide, map grid on, ships in close line-abreast to start.
Semi Finals: 2 minutes per move, fixed wind (from the north), manual guns, no fratricide, map grid on, ships in loose line-abreast.
Finals: 2 minutes per move, variable wind (initially from the north), manual guns, fratricide possible, map grid off, ships in ragged line-abreast.
