The Equinox Preservation Trust hosted a free workshop in partnership with the Vermont Land Trust and Batten Kill CISMA centered on managing non-native invasive plants. The workshop focused on identifying common non-native invasive plant (NNIP) species, their impact on local forests, and effective control methods. Rick LaDue, the Equinox Preservation Trust’s steward, was the workshop’s main presenter. Attendees were able to admire Rick’s 14 years of work controlling invasive plants at the site. Mike White, consulting forester with Calfee Woodlands Management, was also involved in leading the workshop. Pieter van Loon, lead forester at Vermont Land Trust contributed to the workshop and presentation as well.
