The Better Approach to Mobile Ad-hoc Networking (B.A.T.M.A.N.) is a routing protocol for multi-hop mobile ad hoc networks which is under development by the German "Freifunk" community and intended to replace the Optimized Link State Routing Protocol (OLSR) as OLSR did not meet the performance requirements of large-scale mesh deployments[2].

In early 2007, the B.A.T.M.A.N. developers started experimenting with the idea of routing on Data Link layer (layer 3 in the OSI model) rather than the Network layer.[3] To differentiate from the layer 3 routing daemon, the suffix "adv" (for: advanced) was chosen. Instead of manipulating routing tables based on information exchanged via UDP/IP, it provides a virtual network interface and transparently transports Ethernet packets on its own.[4] The batman-adv kernel module has been part of the official Linux kernel since 2.6.38.[5]

The Batmobile driven by Adam West in the 1966 Batman movie is truly a thing of beauty, with great coloring and a general, um, car-like appearance. It's also decked out with great pun-tastic gadgets like the "Bat-tering Ram" (and slightly less pun-tastic gadgets like the "Emergency Tire Inflator"). The Joker Mobile first appeared in October 1946's Batman #37 in a story by Jerry Robinson. In the issue, the Clown Prince of Crime created his versions of the Caped Crusader's gadgets to compete with Batman. Included in his creations was the Joker Mobile, inspired by the Batmobile design, with some uniquely Joker-esque features. Batman Arkham Origins Mobile is an action game developed by Netherrealm Studio. Gameplay is similar to Batman: Arkham City Lockdown, but only has one cutscene.The story follows the same storyline as Batman: Arkham Origins, but in the opening cutscene assassins Shiva and Killer Croc are omitted entirely. Completing objectives and linking WBID will unlock credits for console and the Red Son Batsuit for mobile. Achieving objectives on the console edition will unlock credits for mobile and the Blackest Night Batsuit. It is available on IOS and Google Play for free.

After getting framed for murdering one of his closest allies, Batman called upon one of his most bombastic creations to stop those who pinned the crime on him. In the newest issue of Batman: The Detective, Bruce Wayne shows off his mobile Batcave, as the vehicle is his over-the-top Batmobile to date - proving Batman seemingly has a vehicle for literally every situation.

In Batman: The Detective #4 by Tom Taylor, Andy Kubert, Sandra Hope, Brad Anderson, and Clem Robins, Bruce Wayne is interrogated by Interpol in France but soon realizes he's been poisoned by the detectives. Wayne manages to break free and runs into Squire before getting the necessary medication that prevents his death. Waking up two days later under the care of Squire, he learns Equilibrium has continued their killing spree across the globe. He suits up despite his poor health and gets Squire to buy fruit from a local vendor, activating a code bringing him a mobile Batcave.

It turns out the mobile Batcave was a protocol put in place by Alfred. Inside the elaborate vehicle is everything Batman would need to operate independently while overseas - including a mini dinosaur from his fallen father figure. The mobile Batcave even features an A.I. version of Oracle and advanced tech the hero usually uses in his standard hideout. The issue ends with Batman activating a 'European Alliance of the Bat,' which seems to be his own overseas army.

At this point, no invention, weapon, or vehicle Batman uses should be surprising. Part of what makes Batman such a fun hero is his ridiculous tech and training methods. The mobile Batcave might take the cake for his most expensive backup protocol - but in this case, it will be an important tool in trying to stop Equilibrium as he's thousands of miles away from Gotham. Batman: The Detective #4 is available in comic book stores now.

The Batmobile was Batman's primary mode of transportation. At first, Batman often simply referred to that Batmobile as "the car", and he later called it the Batmobile. The Batmobile was one of the most daunting components in Batman's vast arsenal, and he kept it stored in the Batcave when it was not in use.

Batman used the Batmobile to rescue Vicki Vale from the Joker. After he parked it out front of the entrance Flugelheim Museum, Batman instructed Vicki to get into the vehicle as Joker's Joker Goons gave chase in their own cars. After it completely outmatched the Goons' and the GCPD for pure speed, the Batmobile was caught in a bottleneck, unfortunately. With the road blocked by a construction crew, Batman and Vicki abandoned the Batmobile and continued their escape. Eventually, Batman used a Communicator to call the Batmobile to him after he dispatched Joker's Goons.

In an attempt to kill Joker after the recollection that he was responsible for his parents' deaths, Batman used the Batmobile to lay siege to Axis Chemicals and effectively demolished the complex despite Joker's escape in his helicopter.

Three years later, Batman drove the Batmobile into battle against the Red Triangle Gang. When Gotham City's central Christmas presentation was disrupted by an assault by the Red Triangle Gang, Batman entered the fray with the Batmobile, and systematically used the car's arsenal of abilities to deter the criminals from causing further damage.

The Batmobile later became the target of a scheme by the Penguin to frame Batman as a criminal. After he sabotaged the Batmobile while Batman rescued the Ice Princess from Catwoman, Penguin gained control of the Batmobile, and used it in a destructive joyride throughout the civilian-filled Gotham streets before Batman managed to deactivate the receiver of the control signal. When the Batmobile was freed from Cobblepot's control, the incident caused the desired effect; and the public labeled Batman as a criminal. To narrowly escape from the GCPD, Batman was forced to eject the vehicle's side panels and transformed the Batmobile into the Batmissile. Bruce would later attempt to repair it.

Batman was eventually able to repair the Batmobile and continue using it in his activities. He'd also modified his Batsuit's gloves to act as communicators. During the riots organized by the Joker Gang, Batman summoned the car to him to escape a confrontation with the gang after he stopped their heist of two armored vehicles. It and the GCPD's appearances scared the criminals from the scene. It's unknown if Batman or the Batmobile was used to control the riots further.

When Drake Winston joined Batman's crusade, he drove the Batmobile one night at 160 mph. After catching the police's attention, Batman activated the car's holographic displays to create two decoys and directed him to lose their pursuit. They later used the car to respond to an attack on the Gotham City Police Headquarters, though they later used the Batcyle to flee the scene.

When Bruce retired from his activities as Batman, the Batmobile abandoned along with the other tech he used and covered with a tarp. It was unearthed by the Flashpoint Barry Allen whilst he and his "Earth-1" incarnation explored the Batcave. Batman did not use the car during his work with the Flashes, instead making use of the Batwing due to the locations that they travelled and its armaments being more suitable for the situation.

When Jay Ohrberg built the Six Flags versions of the Batmobile, he narrowed their rear quarters by about 4" on each side to allow the car to be transported easier as the width of the original Batmobile's hind quarters caused the wheels to hang over the side of a typical transport truck.

Affectionately dubbed the "Keaton Mobile" after Michael Keaton; the actor who played Batman/Bruce Wayne in Batman and Batman Returns, the Batmobile's popularity with fans established a strong following.
