Batch ("the app," "we," "us") is a recipe, grocery list, and meal planning app. It works two ways — Solo Mode, which is entirely private to your device, and Family Mode, which lets you share a recipe box with up to 4 people. This policy explains what happens to your information in each.
In Solo Mode, everything you enter — your recipes, grocery list, meal schedule, and photos — is stored locally on your device only. We don't collect it, we don't see it, and we don't send it anywhere. Batch has no server or account tied to Solo Mode data; it never leaves your phone.
If you choose to use Family Mode, the following becomes true instead:
Creating a Family Mode account requires an email address, a password, and a display name. This is used solely to sign you in and to let other members of your family see who added what. Authentication is handled by Supabase, our backend provider (see "Sub-processors" below).
Recipes, grocery list items, and meal schedule entries you create in Family Mode are stored on our backend (Supabase) and are visible to every member of your family group — that's the whole point of Family Mode. This data is not visible to Batch's developer or to anyone outside your family group, and is never sold or shared with advertisers.
Photos you attach to a Family Mode recipe are stored as part of that recipe's data on our backend, visible to your family members, for the same reason as the rest of the recipe.
Each family group is capped at 4 members. Anyone with your family's invite code can join. You can leave a family or delete your account at any time from within the app.
Family Mode data is stored using Supabase, a backend infrastructure provider. Supabase stores this data on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes. No other third party has access to your data.
In both modes, if you add a photo to a recipe or cooking step, Batch will ask for permission to use your camera or photo library. In Solo Mode, that photo stays local. In Family Mode, it's stored as described above.
Batch can schedule local notifications on your device — for example, to let you know when a cooking timer has finished. These are created and delivered entirely on your device through Apple's notification system and are unrelated to Family Mode's account system.
Batch does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services of any kind, in either mode.
Batch is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
In Solo Mode, deleting the app deletes all your data permanently, since nothing exists anywhere else. In Family Mode, leaving a family removes your access to its shared data; deleting your account removes your account information and profile. If you'd like your data fully removed from our backend, contact us using the email below.
