BOSTON WORKS-IN-PROGRESS SHOWCASE SUBMISSIONS 

• What: Boston WiP is a low stakes platform for dance and performing artists to present movement driven work. This installment will be presented at SomArt @ the Hive! We invite all forms of movement driven performance from artists at any stage of their professional career to apply. Given the capacity limitations of the space we will be hosting two back-to-back shows to accommodate a larger audience.

SHAKESPEARE IN THE WOODS ACTOR SUBMISSIONS 2026

• Company: Shakespeare in the Woods

• What: Seeking Northeast non-union performers for roles in Shakespeare in the Woods’ 2026 Season. SitW’s 6th year of programming will include LEAR and MERRY WIVES in repertory (rehearsals begin July 5; runs Aug 12 - 30). The 2026 Season will be one of Chaos and Folly - drawing on themes including love, control, jealousy, deception, nature, and community. SitW is an outdoor theatre company committed to leading bold theatrical experimentation through a modern, radical, and gender expansive queer lens, in pursuit of a reimagined Shakespeare Canon for the here and now.

BRIGHTER BOSTON (applications open - rolling) 

• What: Brighter Boston is a vocational training and internship program, where you get paid to work on professional theatre, concerts, and special events. This is a chance to learn valuable skills, work on professional shows, and start a career in a high-level industry. This opportunity is available for emerging artists ages 16-24, and specifically targets BIPOC artists and artists who have not attended/graduated from a 4-year university.

KINGDOM

• What: KINGDOM is an in person beginner drag king workshop for AFAB (assigned female at birth) individuals that will breakdown all the aspects that it takes to successfully entertain as male on stage. This is for individuals who have less than 1 year of experience and have not received paid bookings. The workshop will be comprised of a total of 8 hours of instruction (broken down into 2 hour increments), lots of homework,  tech rehearsal, and a showcase.

GLOUCESTER STAGE PROFESSIONAL POST-GRADUATE APPRENTICESHIPS

• What: Gloucester Stage’s Apprenticeship Program seeks six young theatre professionals interested in creative ownership, furthering their education, networking, and real world experience with the added support of residence and paid stipend. Designed to be an optimal experience for recent college graduates, we build a strong ensemble in which every member has a voice and plays a role. Apprentices work on all aspects of each main stage productions alongside industry experts, and are considered professional staff. After a season with Gloucester Stage, apprentices will have the depth of knowledge to form their own companies, seek full time employment with professional theatre companies, or pursue graduate degrees.

SHAKESPEARE & CO ACTOR WEEKEND INTENSIVES - BOSTON

• What: Shakespeare & Company’s Weekend Intensive integrates voice, movement, and monologue work. Participants explore ways to unlock the emotional and intellectual content inherent in Shakespeare’s language, yielding a direct relationship between actor and text. Rigorous attention is paid to identifying and offering skills specific to the needs of the participants throughout the course of the weekend.

UMBRELLA ARTS PERFORMING ARTS RESIDENCY

• What: The Umbrella Arts Center, in Concord MA, seeks applicants for its 2026/27 Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Program. Active artists looking to join a vibrant arts community in Greater Boston and further their careers are encouraged to apply. FRESH INK PLAY SUBMISSIONS - Now Open! 

BARRINGTON STAGE COMPANY'S MUSICAL THEATRE CONSERVATORY (MTC) 

• What: The Barrington Stage Company’s Musical Theatre Conservatory (MTC) offers an immersive 8-week training program designed for pre-professional performers. Guided by industry experts, participants will reside on our campus in the Berkshires. The rigorous curriculum encompasses acting, singing, and dance, culminating in two mainstage performances. Additionally, students will engage in master classes with renowned artists and gain insights into the business of performing and audition techniques, equipping them for success in the professional realm. 

• When: June 1, 2026- July 24, 2026

• Where: Pittsfield, MA

• Cost: MTC is a tuition-free program! The full cost of the program and housing is covered for students via our scholarship program. Students are responsible for their personal living expenses (food, gas, etc) while attending the program. A limited number of need-based stipends are available for participants needing financial assistance to cover the cost of living while attending the Musical Theatre Conservatory.

CSC APPRENTICE PROGRAM 

• What: Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s apprentice program is a 7.5-week summer intensive that gives early career performers a rigorous tour of Shakespeare’s language in professional practice and performance. The program includes training by CSC’s faculty and artists in Shakespeare’s Text, Linklater Voice, Movement, and several specialized workshop series. 

• When: June 16 – August 9, 2026

• Deadline: priority deadline is March 17, 2026 but applications are taken until April 28th or when the program is full.

MAJESTIC THEATRE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM 

• What: The Majestic Theater (West Springfield, MA) announces a summer apprentice program, seeking to provide emerging artists in the Pioneer Valley and beyond with professional performance experience and educational offerings from industry professionals.  Majestic Theater Apprentices will perform in one or both Majestic Children’s Theater productions - 2026 season announced as Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!: The Musical! and The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical. Additionally, apprentices will have non-performance responsibilities in administration, technical theater, front of house, and/or theater education. Program benefits include educational workshops led by Majestic Theater staff and other industry professionals, and a $250/week stipend. Limited housing may be available. Program runs approximately late June through mid August. This program is open to college-aged young professionals, current college students, and recent graduates with a declared major in a related field and/or relevant experience in theater performance. The Majestic Theater welcomes and encourages applications from artists of all genders, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Applications will go live on the website February 2, 2026, followed by an interview/callback process for selected artists.

• What: The New Play Incubator (NPI) provides 8–12 weeks each year on the Snodgrass Stage for the development and full production of new plays, with each project receiving 2–5 weeks based on need.

CREATIVE ENTREPRENEUR FELLOWSHIP (applications closed for 2025)

• What:  The Creative Entrepreneur Fellowship (CEF) is designed to accelerate the careers and practice of a diverse group of artists and creative solopreneurs. CEF is a customized professional development experience for 8-10 individuals who are selected through a competitive application process. The Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston is currently looking to accept a small, diverse group of solopreneurs, entrepreneurs and artists working to build a professional practice. Coaching and teaching will be conducted in English and Spanish. Candidates for this program may include visual artists (e.g. public artists, photographers, painters, etc.), craft artists and artisans, performing artists, writers, and more.
