GREEN MOUNTAIN PLAYWRIGHT RETREAT

• What:  Step away for five days and four nights to leave deadlines and distractions behind. The Green Mountain Playwright Retreat offers dedicated time to begin new work, revisit projects in progress, and rediscover the joy of writing theater. The focus is on inspiration over output, curiosity over completion, and community over isolation. Each day includes 4–6 hours of uninterrupted writing time, along with generative workshops, shared meals, and optional evening gatherings that encourage conversation, reflection, and play. The retreat welcomes playwrights at all stages of their careers—from emerging writers to established artists seeking space, time, and community to support their creative work. Space is intentionally limited to 25 participants to preserve the retreat’s quiet and collaborative atmosphere.

EMBODY DIVISING LAB

• What:  The Devising Lab is emBODY Project Theatre’s ongoing practice-as-research ensemble program. Each cycle, a small group of artists works inside a defined research question — investigating the question through physical practice, building devised performance through embodied scores and collaborative creation, and documenting the process as practice-as-research. This is not a class, a workshop, or a production internship. Lab artists are collaborators and co-researchers. The Devising Lab is a structured, facilitated research experience led by Corinne M. Mason in every session. Artists work inside the emBODY Performance Method from the first Wednesday through the final showcase.

There are no winners or losers — only ten plays selected for their artistic merit and alignment with emBODY’s values, each given everything it needs to be fully realized in performance. The emBODY Festival is the culminating event of the company’s season — a celebration of new work, new voices, and the specific kind of storytelling that happens when a community of artists is given real production support and a real audience. We do not produce readings. We produce plays.

This is not a competition. It is a curation of new cross-disciplinary work from Greater Boston artists who are ready to make something they couldn’t make alone. The Performance Lab brings together dancers, musicians, actors, and visual artists in collaborative pairs and groups to develop original work with emBODY’s full support. Every accepted collaboration is a work in progress — the festival is a development showing, not a world premiere. What we’re celebrating is the process and the potential, not the polish.

• What:  The Creative Entrepreneur Fellowship (CEF) is designed to accelerate the careers and practice of a diverse group of artists and creative solopreneurs. CEF is a customized professional development experience for 8-10 individuals who are selected through a competitive application process. The Arts & Business Council of Greater Boston is currently looking to accept a small, diverse group of solopreneurs, entrepreneurs and artists working to build a professional practice. Coaching and teaching will be conducted in English and Spanish. Candidates for this program may include visual artists (e.g. public artists, photographers, painters, etc.), craft artists and artisans, performing artists, writers, and more.

MAJESTIC THEATRE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM (CLOSED FOR 2026)

• What: The Majestic Theater (West Springfield, MA) announces a summer apprentice program, seeking to provide emerging artists in the Pioneer Valley and beyond with professional performance experience and educational offerings from industry professionals.  Majestic Theater Apprentices will perform in one or both Majestic Children’s Theater productions - 2026 season announced as Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!: The Musical! and The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical. Additionally, apprentices will have non-performance responsibilities in administration, technical theater, front of house, and/or theater education. Program benefits include educational workshops led by Majestic Theater staff and other industry professionals, and a $250/week stipend. Limited housing may be available. Program runs approximately late June through mid August. This program is open to college-aged young professionals, current college students, and recent graduates with a declared major in a related field and/or relevant experience in theater performance. The Majestic Theater welcomes and encourages applications from artists of all genders, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Applications will go live on the website February 2, 2026, followed by an interview/callback process for selected artists.

• What: Trinity Repertory Company’s apprenticeship program offers intensive professional training at a Tony Award-winning regional theater. Apprentices are an integral part of our theater company and serve alongside our staff in artistic, administrative, and production-based departments. • What: The Barrington Stage Company’s Musical Theatre Conservatory (MTC) offers an immersive 8-week training program designed for pre-professional performers. Guided by industry experts, participants will reside on our campus in the Berkshires. The rigorous curriculum encompasses acting, singing, and dance, culminating in two mainstage performances. Additionally, students will engage in master classes with renowned artists and gain insights into the business of performing and audition techniques, equipping them for success in the professional realm.
