Even with the huge development of basketball advanced analytics, we still can never be sure that we interpret them correctly. This is always a problem on stats. You never know if you need to add or remove some data in your analysis. Or you never know if the qualitative conclusion is correct. There is always a different opinion that can doubt having as input the same data!
Sometimes we just want a quick and simple method to understand fundamental aspects of the game, such as the difference between the 2 teams. So, by using some simple arithmetic operations we introduce 5 new approaches, ie 5 new simple Differential Boxscores and stats. All of them are trying to quantify the difference in Points produced.
Since these Differential Boxscores and stats are quite simple, their benefit is that they can quickly give an overview on the points distribution. But, as every stat they are carrying a specific limited amount of information, and cannot stand alone. We always need to consider in combine the overall game picture.
