ASD Basket venafro
The ASD Basket Venafro is a no-profit basketball club that operates in different regional and interregional basketball championships. The club started its activities in 1977 from the passion and the determination of a small group of friends that shared the same dream and the same enthusiasm for the basket. ASD Basket Venafro is the oldest basketball club in the region and one of the most important and steadfast of Central-South Italy.
Today, with the support of more than 50 volunteers (management, coaches, doctors, physiotherapists, staff, drivers, referees, etc.), it gives the possibility to more than 200 young players to take part every year in different youth championships, with professional coaches who follow them step by step.
Many Italian and foreign players (Argentine, Eastern European and Northern African) have played and/or collaborated with Basket Venafro during the 40 years of activities of the club.
Improving day by day, growing up from a physical and mental point of view, enabling young prospects to play in the main team, training responsible players and people: those are the precepts that Basket Venafro tries to transmit to the whole team and outside.
Basket Venafro organizes one of the most famous streetball event in the South of Italy - “Torneo in Villa - 3x3” - that last about 15 days and usually hosts more than 25 teams with an average of 10 games played each day. The event, catalyses the attention of athletes from all over Italy, professional as well as non-professional players.
In order to promote sport among youth, the Club organizes activities also outside the sporting hall, mainly in schools, operating with children aged 7 to 14.
In June the Club organizes a professional training camp focused on developing basketball fundamentals which lasts 4 weeks and is reserved to players aged 10 to 20. It takes advantage of the summer months to improve the individual performances of the young players.
