All submissions must follow the official BASiC’25 Latex Template and be submitted via Microsoft Forms.

Call for Extended Abstracts
1. Aims and Scope
BASiC’25 welcomes submissions from doctoral researchers at the University of Birmingham who are exploring any aspect of computing, including (but not limited to) cyber-security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, software engineering, socio-technical systems, computer vision, control, reinforcement learning, simulation, bioinformatics, quantum computing, robotics and theoretical computer science. We encourage work-in-progress as well as more developed research, emphasising a supportive environment for sharing ideas and receiving feedback.
2. Target Audience
Who Should Submit: PhD students from any School at the University of Birmingham with research related to computer science.
Submissions that integrate principles from other domains (e.g., social sciences, engineering, healthcare, mathematics) with computing are strongly encouraged.

Extended Abstract (1 page)
Poster (to be prepared for conference day)

4. Important Dates
Call for Papers: 20th May 2025
Submission Deadline: 15th July 2025
Review Period: 31st July – 31st August 2025
Notification: 31st August 2025
Registration: 1st – 23th September 2025 (Free registration)
5. Review Process and Criteria
BASiC’25 employs peer review. Submission reviewers will be assigned based on the stated expertise of the Program Committee to ensure each paper is appraised by subject-area specialists.
6. Presentation and Awards
Poster Presentations:
If fewer than 30 submissions are accepted, all will be invited to present a poster.
If more than 30 submissions are accepted, only the top 30 will be invited for poster presentations.
Oral Sessions:
The best 5 papers will receive an invitation to deliver an oral presentation.
Awards:
The 5 best papers will be recognised during the closing ceremony.
7. Keynote Speaker and Panel Discussion
BASiC’25 will feature:
An invited speaker discussing career transitions from PhD to industry.
A panel discussion led by senior faculty members from the University of Birmingham.
