This is the first thing we need to stop telling ourselves.
Our pride blinds us from how sinful we truly are. We tend to compare ourselves to each other and those around us to come up with estimations of how 'good' we are.
However, God has seen every moment of our lives and how often we have harmed others He loves through our lies, our habits, and our standards.
Total obedience to His law and perfection is His standard before calling anyhing 'good'.

When we start to see the life Jesus lived and the Bible as our measuring rod, soon we see that we all fall very short of what God wants us to be like.
I had lived most of my life as an unrepentant, multiple-count, repeat, habitual, life-long offender. With malice.

Jesus said :

That means you will be held accountable for breaking any of God's words or Laws given by God when He revealed Himself to mankind through the Jews...summarized in the 10 commandments given to all men so that they don't harm one another.
If God's word is true, then you are still without excuse.
The Bible says God wrote His commandments on our heart. This way we would know right from wrong ; but the consequence would be that we would all need forgiveness, because we all would sin.
[Rom 2:14 KJV] For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:

Sin is 'missing the mark'. It's anything that breaks any of God's laws, which are spiritual, moral, or community laws, as well as specifically spelled out in stone on the 10 commandments.
God gave us the law so that we would know good from bad, and that we could therefore not harm each other.
He commands that we incorporate this knowledge into our lives to perfect our love towards each other, respect each other, and show love towards Him and all His creation equally. Just like He loves us, equally.
God is everywhere, He hears and knows everything. He even knows more than your Alexa. He loves you and is waiting on you to decide how to call out to Him and when you accept His Son Jesus and believe in your heart then He will hear and will know!

Obvisously I'd call a fire department...Superman is not real. I'd either burn to death, or have to rescue myself because He is not real so He can't show up...
Right...and thanks for playing along...calling on Superman would be a bad move...even if you called on Him, you would not believe in your heart that He would save you...and if you did call on him you know you'd be dumb...

I've coming to my point...thanks for your patience. The Bible explains that in order to call on Jesus we must believe that He is real, and that He is capable of performing His promises. It also says that if Jesus is not risen from the dead we are the most miserable people on the planet.
[1Co 15:14 KJV] And if Christ be not risen, then [is] our preaching vain, and your faith [is] also vain.
[1Co 15:17 KJV] And if Christ be not raised, your faith [is] vain; ye are yet in your sins.
[1Co 15:19 KJV] If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
[Rom 4:20 KJV] He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
[Rom 4:21 KJV] And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
So...your point is that I don't believe Jesus is real, alive and risen from the dead.
Well... only you and God will know that.

There's no 'right way' or volume, but it's simply between you and Him just as soon as you believe in your heart that He is real, is risen, and He can and will hear you..talk to Him...knowing He is everywhere and no further than your nose on your face. Call on Him to save you and forgive your sins!

I'll add that it may do good to also realize that our 'house' is on fire and that we need His help...go deep in your heart : get real with God :
REPENT = Change your mind & heart from disagreement with God about your sin condition towards sorrowful agreement with the gospels & the bible. Agree that you have a sinful past and nature and that you need a savior before facing God's justice for all sin commited in our lives...

BELIEVE in your HEART that JESUS CHRIST suffered and was put to death for the sins of the world, including yours
BELIEVE in your HEART HE THEN ROSE FROM DEATH.
Know that Jesus offers God's grace ( mercy instead of our earned punishment for sins against others ) -

The definition of grace may be likened to “God's life, power, and righteousness given to us by unmerited favor".
We can't earn salvation or work to impress God with sin in us...we have to accept that we need Jesus.
Being saved is often after the moment when we know that we don't deserve to be saved, but that Jesus loves us enough to have died for us still...we love Him because He loved us first...We've all put Him to shame...but He died for each of us because of His love for us. No matter who we are we can become friends with Him.
Jesus said this to His disciples:
[Jhn 15:13 KJV] Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
He is your best friend! Get to know Him! Beleive and become His disciple and have forgivness and eternal life!
Jesus was prepared a body in the likeness of sinful flesh and sent from God to be born on the earth and live life as a man in this fallen world that is under the curse of sin & death since the fall of Adam.
[Rom 8:3 KJV] For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Jesus lived a life in the flesh like all other men. However, He walked not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. He put off all things of the flesh and it's desire to control Him and He walked in truth, in love, in honor, in service, in sacrifice, and in all the fruits of the Holy Spirit of God.
He lived just as we all should in obedience to the law which is good, but sadly, we all fail because of our flesh and do not live right. Even when we want to we are burdened by our flesh with which we struggle not to sin...
We know that the law is good, but it becomes a burden and a curse to us since we can not obey it...but for Jesus Christ.
Only when we are given the eternal and Holy Spirit of God can we overcome sin in our lives. It's a gift that God gives to those who believe...and we must continue to walk in it rather than our flesh so that we can overcome sin in our bodies.
Jesus defeated sin in the flesh as no other man could.
[Jas 1:13 KJV] Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
[Jas 1:14 KJV] But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Jesus was wrongfully convicted by men of sin, then He was crucified for claiming He and God were one. He had lived His life performing miracles, teaching others that He could forgive sins which only God could do, and proclaiming Himself to be God. He said He was The Way ( to God ), The Truth, and The Life ( eternal life and the author and giver of life ). He said that no person will come to know God and have forgiveness of Sins but by Him ( recognizing Him as God and having God's aurthority ).
Due to the crucifixion and beatings, His mortal flesh body died...However, death could keep hold of Him, because there was no sin in Him and proving He truly was the Son of God who is eternal, sinless and can never die because there is no sin in Him.
[1Co 15:56 KJV] The sting of death [is] sin; and the strength of sin [is] the law.
[Rom 6:9 KJV] Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
As we see...sin brings forth death, but Jesus had no sin.
Jesus was buried in a tomb as we read in the scriptures, and because He had done no sin, and because He did not lie, He rose back to life again as foretold in the scriptures and by Him and He then walked, talked, ate, and taught again in His perfected immortal body.
Jesus freely offered His body, blood, and life as a living sacrifice to God and was killed by men for being good.
He did this for us and the sins we've commited against oursvelves, those around us, and God's commands & instructions on how we should live and love one another as well as God.
Eventually, God has to judge sin, because it is the right thing to do. It is the good thing to do. If He were to offer eternity alongside His children who have come to agree with God with those who do not regret, repent and turn from their sins and who do not feel ashamed of their sin, or seek forgiveness in life for their sin, then He would be the bad guy. He would utltimately be the Bad Dad.
God did not create us to sin. He does not tempt us to sin, and He does not force us to sin. We run, we hide. We have the knowlege of good and evil, and we hide from Him because we so often choose evil.
God created us to share, love, serve each other and glorify Him in so doing. Living in harmony with each other ; as seen all around us in the natural world of His creation. He so loves us that He gave us free-will. To be ourselves. To learn and create, and be happy.
As a good dad, He is patient and long suffering with His children. He does not force His love on us, but sees if we will run away, or let Him guide us, accepting and believing that He wants the best for all His children, equally - and not just ourself.
