Fanfic

There's two main sections of my fanfic:

  1. Material that's related to "The Freeman Chronicles" (the fanfic of the RPG campaign that resulted from the game that was modified into "The Korra'ti Incident" convention scenario).

  2. Stand-alone fanfic.

I'll be updating and putting the fanfic up here on a semi-regular basis. Or, you can see what I've already completed at https://www.fanfiction.net/~basara549

Songbird

This side-story to The Freeman Chronicles happened because I was running a new campaign, that took place in a parallel timeline to the Freeman one (but altered because there was a time/dimensional accident that dropped 4 2052-era Freeman universe characters into it in early 2014).

One of my players had asked me that week about what had happened to the Freeman universe version of his current character, as 8 of the 9 members of Nazgul Squadron had been selected by the new arrivals because they had been pilots of some skill, but had all tragically died before the SDF-3 launch or on the SDF-3 mission. His character, especially, had called out for embellishment - and the story came to me while I was sitting in front of a VAX terminal in 1995 or 1996, at Eastern Kentucky University. I ended up sitting and typing the entire story over 3-4 hours as an EMAIL (miraculously, it was short enough to send). It was definitely a story that the 9th member of Nazgul (one of the 4 temporal refugees) was determined to change.

Stand-alone Stories

Letters:

This is a Macross/Nadia crossover fanfic, of sorts. It came about as a result of musing about certain oddities that the two series shared (humans being created by aliens fleeing a war, the Captains, and seemingly African-descended characters with odd eye colors). You could easily replace most of one series' orchestral score with the other's, and it would be hard to notice.

So, why not take it to the logical conclusion?

The Last Unicorn

The stories of those left behind to face the coming of the Invid have mostly been lost to history. This is one of those stories, about a Civil Defense officer leading an exodus of refugees to an uncertain future.

The Andrews Incident

This was part of a challenge - how to take Megazone 23/
Robotech: The Untold Story, and make it really work as RTUS without all the odd changes made during the original creation of RTUS.

While technically not part of the Freeman story, a version of its events DID occur off-camera in it (and gets referenced in Freeman Chronicles Book 5). It's also referenced in one of the other stand-alones.

To make this, I started with a fansub script of Megazone 23 (by Michael House and Carl Horn), then

  • watched a (really crappy) copy of RTUS (written by Kramer) on VHS,

  • as well as the Streamline sub of MZ23 (written by Snegoff),

  • then combined elements from all three, plus notes from the Robotech Art 3 writeup on RTUS and watching the RTUS original footage shown at the beginning of MZ23 Part 2.

At one point in the 1990s, I was approached by someone who wanted to do a fandub of this to recreate the movie, but nothing ever came of it, as far as I know.

Ever wonder what happened to the Zentraedi left behind after the REF left? This is the goodbye letter of one of these, as he left human society.
