For this ballet class, you will need ballet gear. Because we are will be dancing in our bedrooms and living-rooms, the dress code will be relaxed to the following.
* REMEMBER: The clothes that you wear have a great effect on how you feel and perform. Please dress for dance success to make the most of this learning experience.
Snug leggings or tights that clearly show the outline of your legs. This is essential for displaying engaged and lengthened leg muscles and bones
Snug top: tank, tee, or long-sleeve. An activated core is one of the key elements of ballet, as is the alignment of the pelvis, ribs, and shoulders. Especially with the challenge of watching on zoom, a sleek clothing line will help me to give feedback for improved technique.
Proper Undergarments are important for any form of physical activity. Whether a sports bra for your upper body or jockstrap/snug brief you will want to have your bits contained and not too mobile.
Hair must be tightly and neatly secured away from the face with bands, pins, or wraps.
SHOES: Ballet shoes are very specific and important for dancing in the studio. However, with many of us dancing on non-traditional flooring like carpet, shoes will be optional this semester. Very tight, little socks are great if you want a ballet shoe alternative.
Here is a link for ballet shoes: DiscountDance.com. This is a great website for all dance gear!
Usual Studio Attire: (I have included this so you have a comparison to what the expectation might be for an in-person ballet class.)
