WHAT'S THE ROLE OF BARANGAY TANODS?
The Barangay Tanods, also known as Barangay Peace and Order Officers, are the community-based law enforcers of the barangay. They assist in maintaining peace, order, and public safety within the community.
Patrol the barangay regularly to prevent crimes, disturbances, and illegal activities.
Respond to minor conflicts, disturbances, and emergencies in the community.
Help de-escalate tensions and maintain public order during events, fiestas, or emergencies.
Conduct barangay roving and checkpoints, especially at night.
Monitor suspicious individuals and activities.
Help secure the barangay during calamities, fires, or natural disasters.
Assist the Philippine National Police (PNP) in implementing laws and ordinances.
Help in executing arrest warrants, curfews, and barangay resolutions when necessary.
Provide assistance during search and rescue operations.
Help settle minor disputes among residents before they escalate.
Bring parties involved in conflicts to the Lupong Tagapamayapa for mediation.
Ensure compliance with barangay policies such as:
Curfew hours
Anti-littering or cleanliness ordinances
Noise regulation
Act as first responders in accidents, fires, or calamities.
Assist in evacuation and relief operations.
Provide basic first aid and help maintain order at evacuation centers.
