Baraka ("the App," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Baraka. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects, how it's used, and the choices available to you.
Information We Collect
Account information — name, email address, and profile photo, via email/password sign-up or Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In.
Location — with your permission, used to show nearby halal restaurants and masajid on the Baraka map, calculate accurate prayer times, and support location-based marketplace features. You can deny or revoke this anytime in device settings; the App still works with reduced accuracy (a general default location) if you do.
Camera, microphone, and photos — accessed only when you choose to take or upload photos/videos for listings, your profile, or chat.
Notifications — used to send prayer reminders and marketplace/chat alerts, if you enable them. Can be turned off anytime.
Usage and device information — basic technical data (device type, OS version, app version) to maintain and improve the App.
Payment information — purchases are processed by Google Play's billing system; we do not receive or store your full card details.
How We Use Information
To operate the App's core features (marketplace, chat, halal directory, prayer times/reminders), personalize your experience, send notifications you've opted into, maintain security, and respond to support requests.
Third-Party Services
Firebase (Google): authentication, database, storage, push notifications. Google Maps Platform: the Baraka map. Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In: optional sign-in, governed by their own policies. We do not sell your personal information.
Data Retention & Deletion
Retained while your account is active. Request deletion anytime at Baraka.app.ca@gmail.com; we'll delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable timeframe, except where the law requires retention.
Children's Privacy
Not directed at children under 13; we don't knowingly collect their data.
Your Choices
Review/update account info in-App; revoke camera, microphone, location, or notification permissions in device settings anytime; request your data or its deletion by contacting us.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date will reflect material changes.
