At least four hundred Maranao families fled the raging battles in Marawi City to seek refuge in Metro Manila. Yes, 400 families! And this group is just one of several. These people left their homes and possessions, and travelled a great distance in order to find temporary means of livelihood. Most of them don't have relatives, and have never even set foot in the Capital. Their plight is most pitiful. The stories they told, confirmed what has been already told in the news; and much worse. One person told of eating cardboard boxes when the supplies at an evacuation site went extremely low. Another recalled being discriminated upon in the distribution of relief goods because of his recent political affiliation. Horror stories told by survivors of a calamity from a not so distant city. Some don't make the deadline of your favorite news channel; but are happening in reality.
Bangon MaraWe is dedicated to help these displaced families in all ways possible. An effort to reach-out to kind-hearts for donations of any kind. If you are interested in making a difference, please send us a message for detailed instructions on how you can help. Volunteers are welcome! For the security and privacy of the evacuees, we cannot post their exact location here. They have given us specific instructions not to publicly disclose that information.
The Bangon MaraWe concert was originally conceptualized as a small pocket event, to be held in one of the bars in Metro Manila. However, as the magnitude of the crisis in Marawi grew, the need for more significant help became the reality. On July 4, 2017, the target date was initially set to August 12, 2017. Everybody was optimistic that all the pieces of the jigsaw would be obtained and set in place by that time.
Now, it can be confirmed! The concert will be on 30 September 2017 at the Manhattan Row on General Malvar Avenue, Araneta Center Cubao, Quezon City. Show starts at 5 PM. No tickets! No Fees! Just bring your donations to the venue. Artists and performers from the local music industry have pledged to play free of charge for this cause.
The brightest talents in the local music industry will be performing at the Bangon MaraWe concert on September 30, 2017. And they will be playing their music without asking for any fees!
