Bangon MaraWe is purely voluntary work. All volunteers have special qualities that compel them to sacrifice time and energy for real change. And We are always in need of self-less people who will volunteer with us. If you are interested, please fill-out this Volunteer Form and we will be in touch with you shortly.
When donating food and clothes, please be mindful of cultural and religious sensitivities. Most of our beneficiaries are devout Muslims, and it would be insulting if they are provided with aid that is prohibited by their faith. Please see the infographic for reference.
It would be best if food donations are labelled "Halal," meaning it is permitted for consumption. Since there are infants, and even new-born babies, there is also a huge need for milk formula. There is also an urgent need for non-prescription medicine. Staples like medication for fever, colds, cough, diarrhea, muscle and joint pain, etc. You might also want to include items for basic hygiene like toothbrush, toothpaste, bathing and laundry soap, shampoo, and toilet paper. These are very important in order to keep the evacuees clean and healthy.
Some young evacuees have been integrated into the schools near the evacuation sites. These kids will be needing materials necessary to successfully carry-on with their education. School bags, notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, etc. Surely, you know what school children need.
When it comes to clothing, please be aware of what you are putting in those relief packs. Bear in mind that our Muslim brethren dress-up modestly and are very conservative. Comfort doesn't always necessarily mean short or sheer.
Bangon MaraWe will coordinate pick-up schedule with donors who have no ability to drop-off donations. Please refer to our Contact Us page for details. We will try our best to accommodate all pick-up requests as swiftly as possible.
