My quick verdict is that, yes, reusable bamboo paper towels are worth checking out if you are on a mission to reduce waste. They have their draw backs, but at the very least one roll will help you to reduce your waste and spending on papers towels by replacing 286 rolls of paper towels (bambooee.com).

These paper towels are made from a rayon that is produced from organic and sustainably sourced bamboo that is completely regrown each year. Because they are produced from a rayon this also means that they are not biodegradable or compostable.

There is a lot to like about these reusable bamboo paper towels. I really like how the materials are sourced for these. They are organic and sustainable sourced. Bambooee will also plant a tree for each roll that is purchased. I love that!

They work even better than paper towels by consistently absorbing more than regular paper towels. These are a great washable paper towel that you can easily wring without tearing and can be washed 100 times before they wear out.

They also help reduce waste and costs massively by replacing 286 rolls of paper towels(according to Bamboo). Which, at the time of writing this, would save somewhere in the ballpark of $450-700 depending on the quality of the paper towels you buy currently.

100% Organic natural fiber towels like these Waffle Cotton dish towel or these Flax & Cotton Linen dish towel from Rawganique. Both options should provide you with a solution that is more absorbent than paper towels. They can be washed and will last longer than reusable bamboo paper towels.

There are also a couple of other products that are similar to the bamboo towels but are produced in a way that allows them to be composted once they are worn out. I recommend checking out Wowables and If You Care (that is the companies actual name) Natural Reusable Towels.

Ultimately, reusable bamboo paper towels are a great product that I will probably not buy again. They have really helped me to cut down on my paper towel waste. Although I do still use paper towels for the really gross messes like cat throw up.

I just need to get over my weird hang up about not using towels to clean up the messes. I will have to buy some good 100% organic fiber cloth towels that I can use in the exact same way I use these reusable bamboo paper towels but can then compost them once they are used up.

I really loved the bamboo paper towels which I bought for around 3.25/roll at the grocery store. But they disappeared from store shelves and are now over 9.00 per roll online. 1)I don't buy ANYTHING online, 2) I resent the huge price increase. So I don't buy them anymore.

Thank you for this excellent article. We buy huge packs of paper towels at Costco, wrapped in plastic sadly and I was looking to bamboo paper towels as an alternative. Knowing that they are not compostable is a deal breaker. One that is not advertised much.

I just installed bamboo paper on my windows laptop. For some reason the notebook that's created at startup only opened up once, then after that when I came back to the home screen, it stopped opening. When I click on it, nothing happens. I tried creating a new notebook, same problem. Any idea what might be causing this?

I need some matte art paper with good longevity for printing photos in sepia. This paper should be not bright and have "warm and old" look. I found that Hahnemuhle Bamboo 290 matches, and it has > 100y longivity. But is it good for printing photos? Or this paper made for sketches?

I have played with Bamboo and liked its style. It seemed to me to be a nice texture, not like cheap wallpaper , and not too rough . The pattern of the paper has a fairly random feel, and the thing I noted was a reasonable black but with slightly less heavy shadow.

I can only recommend Hahnemhle's digital photo print paper sample packs if you'd like to try out different kinds of papers. In your case the Matt Fine Art Smooth Pack that includes two A4, US 8,5 x 11" or A3+ sheets of various papers, including Bamboo 290, may be of interest. These sample packs are fairly inexpensive. Hahnemhle also offers other kinds of sample packs. Take a look:

Bamboo is only 83% white according to specs. But maybe still worth it because it is OBA-free. It is smoothest OBA-free matte paper Hahnemuhle offers. If it is dark, at least it won't get darker over time like the other papers with OBAs.

I tested Bamboo , and many other similar papers, on a Tuscan landscape with mostly green and blue sky. The shadows in the undulating grass were less deep by a small but notable amount, and had an almost golden glow. The green and sky blue looked good against the other cotton rags, and the clouds had a slight warmth to the white.

I've printed with Hahnemuhle Bamboo and been very happy - most happy printing a portrait with lots of green and red - the colours came out really well and the wamth of the paper seemed to work with the skin (I wasn't worried about Dmax though). I also liked the results of a BnW landscape. The printers I used (Printspace, UK), describe it as 'This natural warm-toned, smooth surfaced and optical brightening agent free genuine art paper offers maximum ageing resistance. It guarantees an extremely large colour gamut and high colour density.' It seems like a warmer companion to the Hahnemuhle Photo Rag. I'm looking to use it again.

That's interesting - I think it was the darker reds driving the image. I'm pretty new to printing and hadn't thought about certain papers being good for certain colours. Are you using software and the icc profile to view the spectral chart (I can't find one on the Hahnemhle site).

Howard the image I tested it on was a Tuscan landscape with a blue puffy cloud sky. I printed this on many other manufacturers papers of similar type, and all I can say is that there was no noticeable change in the rendition of the blues or greens , other than the mid to shadows were not as deep and a little warmer....as were the puffy white clouds. These were only slight changes from standard cotton rag papers.

Although it's very hard to emulate the real thing on a touch screen, Bamboo Paper does a surprisingly good job in recreating a pen on paper feel. Ideally, Bamboo Paper should be used with a tablet and stylus but you can also paint and draw with your fingers although the accuracy can be poor this way and it's obviously not the same experience.

You can choose from a number of different notebook styles or themes, with various paper types, colors and textures. You can add pictures and photos to your notes, and export to online storage sites such as DropBox and Evernote and share via Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr.

Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world, growing up to 3 feet per day while absorbing massive amounts of carbon during its growth! Bamboo reaches harvest maturity in just three years, and unlike trees, bamboo does not need to be replanted after it is harvested as the bamboo will continue to grow.

Large, traditional toilet paper companies source their softest toilet paper from old-growth forests. These forests are essential for preserving ancient eco-systems and storing enormous amounts of carbon. Switching to bamboo keeps these forests in-tact!

Better than any other natural paper towel I have tried. We don't use a lot of paper products in our home, but we do to dry food, meats etc. The thought of using a bleached out paper on foods scares me, using rustic strength gives us peace of mind. They hold up well compared to most other brands, very strong.

Absorbent and sturdy enough to get to work on heavy spills, kitchen messes and cleanup needs. These tree-free bamboo paper towels are strong enough for any spill. Made from soft & sustainable bamboo, not trees! Free of chlorine bleaching and chemicals, too. 2-ply bamboo paper towels with 75 sheets per roll. 8 rolls per box. Total of 600 sheets. ff782bc1db
