Options include:
Review the parts of a face: eyes, nose, mouth, etc.
Ask students how their balloon face is feeling and review facial expressions like smiles and frowns.
Allow students to share their balloons with their classmates and practice being a good listener.
Activities with wordless picture books:
Read aloud and model telling the story. Then allow students to retell the story using the pictures.
After you have read the books as a full class, allow students to practice telling the story to each other using the pictures as a guide.
Use wordless picture books in a self-exploration center. Observe students on their use of reading behaviors like turning the pages, "reading" from left to right and holding the book with the correct orientation.
Play "eye-spy" on each page. Ask students to find things of different colors, different animals, different characters, etc.
Create a wordless picture book as a class or small group. Create a story line together and then allow each student to draw a picture. Then compile the pictures and read your story together.
