On November 9, 2017, the official City of Seattle Mandatory Housing Affordability (MHA) environmental impact study was released, available here.
Unfortunately, the city did not perform neighborhood-by-neighborhood environmental impact studies and has not released information as to why some very specific streets and areas were chosen for upzones over others. Many neighbors are frustrated with the lack of information, city outreach and community engagement.
Look at the 'proposed alternative' map to see how your property or your block may be affected. Especially those of you along the south side of NW 60th St and the area around 24th Avenue NW; as well as those east of 14th Ave NW just north of Market Street up to NW 59th St.
We certainly want affordable housing in Ballard! We understand our Urban Village will undergo growth and look forward to welcoming new neighbors. But the MHA plan has problems that must be resolved before the city moves forward:
