Neighbourhood Watch - The scheme helps look out for any suspicious or criminal activity in the villages. Every part of Bainton and Ashton has their own co-ordinator, who informs residents of any new prevention schemes that are put in force by the police. The co-ordinators are also there for you to report any problems after contacting the police.
Community Speed Watch - Community Speed Watch is a traffic monitoring scheme that is co-ordinated by the police but managed and run by volunteers in the villages. The aim of Community Speed Watch is to address the problem of either real or perceived speeding. This is done in partnership with the community to keep the villages a safer place.

The 'How to' section on this website has a bit more detail here
Running from 1 May 2109 to 30 April 2020 this project funded through a competitive grant application to Peterborough City Council Communities Fund saw planting of hundreds of bulbs and some trees on verges and pinfolds in Bainton and Ashton by up to 50 residents. This is an illustration of the villages' commitment to our local environment and community involvement. This project is now transforming with a local village plan and our input to initiatives of the Langdyke Trust and the John Clare Countryside Projects - please see the link to the latest update here.
Our villages are friendly and close-knit but everybody needs good neighbours and this scheme initiated locally by the Parish Council, is in early development and links across neighbouring communities and linking with charities such as Age UK and the Dementia Trust. More information is available at http://www.baintonandashtonlocalcouncil.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Good-Neighbour-Poster.pdf
A proposed Partnership initiated by the Parish Council is to build on the already excellent networks we have in the villages by coordinated sharing of information and special interests as well as including residents who do not consider themselves members of existing groups. It is hoped that by demonstrating that “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”, the Partnership will better able to apply for grant funding for village projects and to be seen by funding bodies to represent the wide village interest.
