Waste collection.
In summary bins should be left road side for collection anytime after 06.30 on Tuesdays. Collections alternate for for grey bins (general waste) one week and green (recycling waste) the next, with a separate food waste bin collected each week. A brown bin for garden waste has to be paid for annually (usually in May) before it will be collected on green bin Tuesdays. Other items can be collected and arrangements change from time to time. Shops:
Local newsagent and post office at Helpston on the B1443 approx 2 miles east from Bainton is open most days until 8pm. Phone 01733 254295 to check times.
Stamford - great mix of chain and independent stores in the centre of town including M&S Food and Tesco. Morrisons is located on the A16 and heading north on the A6121 Ryhall Road takes you to a series of retail parks including DIY stores, Lidl and Sainsbury. Waitrose is on the opposite side of town West St, Stamford PE9 2PR.
Peterborough - main shopping area in the city centre is Queensgate (http://www.queensgate-shopping.co.uk/)which has its own car parks. The Brotherhood (https://www.brotherhoodshopping.co.uk/) and nearby Maskew Avenue retail parks are on on the A15 north of the city centre en route to and from Bainton and Ashton.
Fuel:
Cheapest are Morrisons and Jet (just on the east side of the A16 Tallington level crossing). Jet also has a good hand car wash but be prepared to queue for the railway crossing which can be up to 15 minutes.

Suggest check websites for speed and cost comparisons. In 2020 download and upload speeds and costs are comparable. Mobile phone signals are patchy (good and non-existent) in the villages.
Playground:
For children maintained by Peterborough City Council is located on the north east corner of St Mary's Close between house numbers N and N.
The fish and chip van
Visits on Tuesday evenings outside Manor Farm on Tallington Road between 7 and 7.30pm depending on earlier demand en route. Fish is cooked to order. See the Useful Links tab
Buses
(Delaine 201) on the B1443 at the church mostly hourly each days except Sunday - see the Useful Links tab. School buses also run.
Driving to Stamford
Either B1443 via Barnack and past Burghley House with daytime free parking for 2 hours on Water Street and by the George Hotel and a short walk over the Albert or Town Bridges respectively to the centre. Or Tallington Road to Tallington then left on the A16. There is a market day on Friday.
