BARONY: (Drive / Gardens / Court / Drive / Wynd)
This land was part of the old Barony Parish of Glasgow the borderline of which followed the line North and West of the Tollcross / Glendy / Barrachnie Burn up to East Queenslie and round the top of Bishop Loch
The named was used to indicate the Old Barony Coach Road which crossed the Glasgow Barony Parish borderline.
QUEENSBY: (Road / Avenue / Place / Wynd)
This could well be a spelling mistake picked up by incorrect analysis of Thomas Richardson’s 1855 map spelling Queensly as Queensby.
West and East Queenslie lies roughly a mile west of these streets just inside the old Barony Parish on the Old Barony Coach Road.
MICKLEHOUSE: (Big House)
Old maps show a dwelling house on this old Barony Coach Road situated midway between East & West Queenslie named Micklehouse. This explains why they chose this name as a pointer.
SPRINGCROFT:
Named after the Springcroft cottages which were situated within the Springhill Nurseries.
