Be a Learning Experience Observer (LEO) for a MATH Class. Learning Experience Observer (LEO) Program at the Claremont Center for Teaching and Learning is a partnership between two people: a student observer and a faculty partner. These partnerships challenge the traditional “consumer” model of learning, in which information is transmitted by the teacher and students passively take in the information.
Infinite Possibilities Conference
A national conference designed to broaden participation in the mathematical sciences and aiming to foster a sense of community in mathematics among women from underserved populations, and welcomes all mathematicians who feel they may contribute to or benefit from this event.
A conference aiming to fostering inclusivity in mathematics by holding talks and discussions in both research and education targeting undergraduate and graduate students, post-docs, and faculty members from all institutions.
Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science Conference, the largest multidisciplinary and multicultural STEM diversity event in the country, is a gathering which serves to equip, empower, and energize participants for their academic and professional paths in STEM.
Attend Mathematical Association of America's SoCal-NV Fall/Spring Section Meeting (held once per semester).
PRiME (Pomona Research in Mathematics Experience)
PRIME is an eight-week summer residential program at Pomona College to conduct research in Algebraic Geometry & Number Theory.

BEAM (Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics)
Work at BEAM, a program that brings advanced enrichment learning to students from historically marginalized and low-income communities.
Thrive Scholars is a program dedicated to maximizing the potential of talented students, providing pathways to upward economic mobility through education. The Summer Academy and Thrive Academies programs aim to empower the next generation of leaders and often hire Writing Professors, Math Professors, and Site Directors.
This MathEd list is put together largely thanks to Brianna Huynh of Pomona'24.
Been-there-done-that Chat:
Chat with a trusted math faculty in your school to find out about graduate opportunities in the specific field of your interest in mathematics.
Most graduate programs require you submit a copy of your formal transcripts, letters of recommendation, a personal statement, application fees (in many institutions now are waived with an application), and GRE scores.
Open Houses
Many graduate programs offer open houses for applicants to get a glimpse of their graduate programs and some of them take place virtually. These events tend to take place early or mid-Fall semester of the application cycle. Take a look at them!
The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to help ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States. A goal of the program is to broaden participation of the full spectrum of diverse talents in STEM. The five-year fellowship provides three years of financial support, inclusive of an annual stipend.
