Lab Ethos
We are scientists and we are also people. Although we strive to be objective, we cannot be impartial or indifferent to the world we live in. We know that many academic institutions, such as campuses, funding agencies, and societies, are not truly diverse or equitable. We are committed to be a part of creating a more supportive and inclusive academic world. So, in this lab, we:
Acknowledge that our physical lab space and offices are located on unceded Lheidli T'enneh territory
Maintain our spaces as Safe Spaces
Truly value work-life balance and fully appreciate the importance of mental health
Embrace neurodiversity
Are LGTBQIA2S+ or allies
Believe in ecological justice
Are feminists
Use our privilege and voices to support our BIPOC friends and colleagues
Will Listen and grow, continually, even if it's uncomfortable
Live by the motto "Well-behaved [people] seldom make history" - Laura Thatcher Ulrich
