The purpose of the project is both historical and systematic. From a strictly historical standpoint, it aims to chart the reception of Ancient Philosophy in the Phenomenological Tradition (an important and increasingly acknowledged desideratum of research). From a more systematic standpoint, it aims at uncovering and assessing new conceptual resources of phenomenology drawn from its distinctive encounter with the classics in fields such as logic, philosophy of mathematics, philosophy of language and practical philosophy as well as testing their relevance in the contemporary discussions.
A first meeting took place in Leuven on March 25/26. There were a keynote lecture by Claudio Majolino and a guided reading of Proclus according to Stumpf with Jan Opsomer and Alain Lernould. Further details in the program.
A second meeting has been held in Lille on June 24/25. This event includes a keynote lecture by Julia Jansen and a reading session led by Saskia Aerts and Guilherme Riscali on Husserl and Plotinus. Please find all the details in the program.
