Introduction

• Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme is the most prominent scheme of the West Bengal Government for the welfare of farmers.

• It was started in the year 2019.

• The main objective behind launching West Bengal Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the farmers in case of crop loss or damage.

• It will stablize the income of the farmer and helps them to not to take any extreme step in case of their crop loss.

• Under West Bengal Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme, the crops of the farmers will be under coverage of risks from sowing to post harvestation.

• All the premium of the insurance will be paid by the West Bengal Government.

• Both Kharif and Rabi Crops are covered under Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme.

• Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited is the implementing agency of this scheme.

• Department of Agriculture of West Bengal is the nodal department of Bangla Shasya Bima Scheme.

• Eligible Farmers can avail the benefit of this scheme through Application Form.

• Resident of West Bengal.

• All Farmers of West Bengal including :-

  • Sharecroppers.

  • Tenant Farmers.

• Scheme is mandatory for Loanee Farmers.
