The International Workshop on the Bees Algorithm and its Applications (BAA) is an interdisciplinary forum for researchers and engineers to share the latest research results, ideas, and developments relating to the popular bees-inspired optimisation technique and its applications.
The first workshop, held on 29 September 2021, focused on applications of the Bees Algorithm in intelligent production and manufacturing. The second workshop, on 7 July 2022, broadened its scope to encompass all engineering disciplines. Continuing this trajectory, the third workshop, on 15 November 2023, adopted a comprehensive approach by exploring applications of the Bees Algorithm across diverse engineering fields, followed by the fourth workshop on 13 November 2024.
The fifth workshop, held on 12–13 November 2025, marked the 20th anniversary of the Bees Algorithm. It was the first event jointly organised by the School of Engineering, University of Birmingham, and the Department of Engineering, University of Exeter.
Looking ahead, the sixth workshop, scheduled for April 2027 in Exeter, will be the first to take place in person, offering an opportunity for deeper engagement, networking, and knowledge exchange.
