We invite papers for the sixth International Workshop on the Bees Algorithm and its Applications. The workshop is an interdisciplinary forum for sharing the latest research, ideas and developments in the Bees Algorithm and other bee-inspired optimisation methods, and their applications.
This edition is linked to a Special Issue of International Journal on Interactive Design and Manufacturing, Computational Modelling and Bee-Inspired Optimisation in Manufacturing and Design, edited by Natalia Hartono, Voicu Ion Sucala and Martino Luis.
Accepted abstracts will be presented at the workshop, and authors will then be invited to submit a full paper to the journal for the Special Issue. All full papers will undergo the journal's standard peer-review process, and acceptance for presentation at the workshop does not guarantee acceptance of the full paper.
International Journal on Interactive Design and Manufacturing IJIDeM is a hybrid journal. Open access is optional and carries an article processing charge (APC); authors who do not require open access can publish under the standard subscription route at no charge. Authors should check their institution's or funder's open access requirements before deciding.

Scope
We welcome work across the full breadth of design and manufacturing, from engineering design and process planning to scheduling, machining, assembly and additive manufacturing, wherever computer modelling, simulation and analysis are used to solve the problem. Both new algorithmic developments and fresh applications are encouraged.

Abstracts of up to 250 words should be submitted via this link. Please provide 4 – 6 keywords.
Accepted abstracts must be presented at the workshop. Full papers should then be submitted through the journal's system, following the Special Issue instructions, by 15 August 2027. Each paper will be peer-reviewed to the journal's usual standards before a decision is made.

The Bees Algorithm - from nature to industry solving a range of real world problems
Nature can be an inspiration for many things in life and it has much to teach us in an intriguing way. This keynote explores the journey of the Bees Algorithm (BA) from its biological roots in honeybee foraging behaviour to its deployment as a robust industrial optimisation tool where it performs a delicate balancing act between exploration and exploitation in its pursuit of seeking after the global optimum while avoiding the risk of getting trapped in local optimum by identifying promising patches to harvest and abandoning some during its navigation through the complex search space made up of multi objectives and multi variate dimensions. Several improvements have been made to the basic BA to make them more powerful and easy to use and some of these enhancements will be presented. The applications of the BA cover a range of real world problems selected from areas such as advanced manufacturing, remanufacturing, medical, AI/Machine Learning, power systems, and robotics.
